Economy Hire now require customers to supply a DRIVER CODE in order to check your licence details.

You can go online to obtain a code and each code is valid for 21 days from the date you obtain it and it can only be used once (to protect your privacy). You can have up to 15 active check codes at any given time. Obtain CODE from DVLA website

If a customer arrives without a code or a printout they can call DVLA on 0300 790 6801 and leave permission for their driving record to be checked verbally by a nominated hire company. You can then call DVLA on 0906 139 3837 (calls cost 51p per minute) to check the driver’s details after they’ve given their permission.

Both parts of your photo Licence card plus two forms of identification with address. i.e. utility bills, bank statement.

We must see the non UK licence, together with an international Licence.

We allow a maximum of 6 points for speeding/traffic offences; any points above this will have to be referred to our insurance company so you will need to telephone us with the details.


Yes, we offer limited mileage of 130 miles per day for vans with excess at 8 pence per mile, or unlimited mileage rates.

The minimum age for hiring a vehicle from us is 25.

We have no maximum age, and currently hire to customers aged 75 and under. Please call to discuss if you have any questions at 01425 474593.

No, we do not provide hire outside mainland UK.


Yes we will provide extras subject to availability. Please state your requirements at time of booking.


Fully Comprehensive Insurance is provided for each vehicle with an excess of £1500.00; we do offer a Collision Damage Waiver to reduce the excess. Personal possesions are not covered on our insurance. Personal cover for passengers is included on our insurance but not for Drivers.

If Something Goes Wrong

All our vehicles are covered by a breakdown/recovery company. Details are clearly displayed in each vehicle.

Contact the Police and Economy Hire.

Your credit card will be debited with the cost of the fine and an administration charge, drivers details will be forwarded to the relevant authority.

If you dont turn up for your hire within 2 hours of collection time, we will cancel the hire. If we are contacted we will endeavour to rearrange your hire subject to availability of vehicle.

Collecting & Returning

Our vehicles are supplied with 1/4 tank of fuel and should be returned with 1/4 tank.

As per your rental agreement, hire runs for 24 hours e.g. 08.00am – 08.00am or 16.30pm to 16.30pm.

We are open 6 days a week:
Monday to Friday: 8am – 5.30pm
Saturday: 8am – 1pm
Sunday: CLOSED

The rental agreement states that you return the vehicle in the same condition as when you hired.

If a vehicle is going to be returned late please contact us asap, charges will be made for late returns subject to original hire agreement.

Yes, as long as sufficient notice is given.


Vehicle hire can be paid for by Credit / Debit Card only. (as we need a Credit/Debit card for Deposit purposes).

You will receive an invoice/VAT receipt on collection of your vehicle.

Included in the price is vehicle hire, mileage agreed and basic insurance with excess of £1500, (Collision Damage Waiver will be offered at time of hire, this reduces the excess payable).
